The cluster is known as the PUI Novogrod cluster.
The cluster was detected immediately when the third patient is confirmed COVID-19 positive, after being a close contact to the second patient.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the first case from the cluster was a Malaysian who returned from Russia on July 5, 2020. The patient was screened at the international entrance and was admitted to Hospital Sungai Buloh after the result came positive.
"The second case, which is patient No 8,718, is a friend to patient No 8,673. They boarded the same plane on July 5, 2020," said Noor Hisham.
A total of 14 close contacts have been tested and screened but so far the results came negative.
Noor Hisham added that investigations and contact tracing activities are still in the process.
