Naya Rivera of 'Glee' Missing After Going Boating - Rolling Stone

Naya Rivera, 33, who was famously known for playing Santana Lopez on the hit tv series 'Glee' has been found dead after she went missing after she went boating with her son at Lake Piru in Ventura County, California, said by Ventura County sheriff’s department.

The search for her body began when local authorities found her four-year-old son left alone on the renting boat. Her last posting on social media was a photo of her with her son Josey Dorsey, with the caption "Just the two of us."

The cast of Glee, including Amber Riley and Heather Morris, joined forces to search for her missing body at the lake. Sheriff Bill Ayub said Rivera spent her last moment trying to save her son from drowning, but unfortunately couldn't bring herself back on the boat.

“He and Naya swam in the lake together,” Ayub said. “It was during that time that her son described being helped onto the boat by Naya. He told investigators he looked back and saw her disappear under the surface of the water.” Later, he added, “We believe that she mustered enough energy to get her son back on the boat, but not enough to save herself.”

Fans and celebrities alike poured their condolences for her, saying she was "the brightest star in Glee" and she will be dearly missed by everyone. Her death also coincidentally fell on the seven years death anniversary of another Glee star Cory Monteith, who died in 2013 following his struggles with substance abuse.
