Yasmin Ahmad was one of the few names that are known as iconic to the modern cinematic landscape of our beloved country, Malaysia. Not only she’s working as a film director, but she also managed to be a writer, scriptwriter and executive director at her advertising agency.
Most of the people across the world still remember Yasmin Ahmad because she left an enduring mark of her artworks that is presumed as a masterpiece. All her television commercials and film have received international and local awards. Her artworks weren’t just shown a sense of soul searching and thoughtfulness, but it is also an unusual type of commercial that we rarely can find in our local scene advertisement. One of her famous advertisement is the Petronas’s advertisement that is represented for the Merdeka Day (2007) which is called Tan Hong Ming In Love.

The advertisement wasn’t just presented about unity between two racial, but it is also showing us about love and friendship. Encapsulate a love between two people in the commercial had us all hook, line, and sinker which is making all of us realized that love is universal, any living and breathing creatures on this earth can relate to. Yasmin comes out with this story with her simple idea of friendship and fondness.
